Happy July 4th, everyone…Independence Day conjures up a variety of images, doesn’t it? From Revolutionary War scenes to movie titles.
Briefly, please stop for a moment to contemplate how independent you’d be with compromised health…unfortunately, some of you already know. In so many ways, we’re NOT a healthy nation.
Chronic disease incidences are at all-time highs…and increasing…and, we’re hearing talk of the possibility that–for the first time–today’s American kids’ overall life expectancy may fall short of that of their parents.
The biggies? Type-2 diabetes…2014 2014 Diabetes statistics from CDC…Obesity…2014 Obesity statistics from CDC…and from Gallup…Alzheimer’s disease…2016 AD statistics from Alzheimer’s Association…cancer, which I’ve dwelt on considerably in these posts…2016 US cancer statistics…compared with 2010…2010 US cancer statistics. And then there are hypertension, heart disease, liver disease, kidney disease…an all-too-familiar list of chronic conditions that can ZAP your independence.
I’m trying…desperately…not to be judgmental here…and it ain’t easy.
On the positive side: think of the control you have with knowledge about your own health, versus the lack of control you have WITHOUT that knowledge.
Please, keep educating yourself on self-evident Truths like Health.
Happy Healthy Independence Day, smart, savvy Americans.
